About us
Welcome to chlorobase, your go-to resource for all things related to indoor plants!
Our Story
Hey, I’m Anthony, the developer behind this website. My journey with houseplants started 5 years ago and has only grown since then. Frustrated by the lack of simple, accessible databases for casual plant lovers, I originally built this tool for my own use. Over time, I decided to use it as a way to improve my coding skills and turn it into a full project of my own 😃!
Our mission
Our passion lies in bringing nature's beauty indoors and sharing our love for houseplants. We're building more than just a plant database; we're creating the ultimate "plant pokedex," a comprehensive resource showcasing the unique diversity of indoor plant species, both rare and common.
We meticulously document each plant, carefully distinguishing between varieties to avoid duplication.
Our goal is to provide clear, accurate, and easy-to-understand information, empowering plant enthusiasts of all levels to create thriving and unique indoor gardens.
What we offer
Concise and simple information about the plants
We keep things simple here. No jargon, no fluff - just the stuff you need to know about your plants. Whether it's a finicky ficus or a hardy hoya, we break down the basics in a way that makes sense. From sunlight needs to watering tips, we've got you covered with clear, to-the-point info. No life stories, no big paragraphs: simple stuff only!
Collection and wishlist manager
Keep track of all your green friends in one place with our easy-to-use collection manager. Add plants you already own to your personal collection or save those you're dreaming of to your wishlist for future purchases.
Share your collections with friends to show off your plant parenthood journey or get inspiration from other plant enthusiasts.
A new way to discover and add plants to your collection!
Think of us as your plant matchmaker. We spotlight different plants that might catch your eye. Maybe you'll fall for a trailing pothos or get curious about a quirky cactus. We show you what these plants look like, how they behave, and what they need to thrive.
Factual, easy to follow guides
Let's face it - some plants can be drama queens. That's why we also propose various guides to help you progress in the plant hobby. Need to repot your plant and you don't know what medium to use? Trying to figure out how to make baby plants? Our guides have your back.
Our approach
We believe that caring for plants should be accessible to everyone. That's why we've designed our website to be:
- User-Friendly: Our content is organized for easy navigation and quick information retrieval.
- SEO-Optimized: We use various plant names and terms merged from various databases to ensure you can find the information you need through search engines and internal search.
- Regularly Updated: We add new plants frequently to keep our content fresh and expanding. If you feel like we missed your favorite species, please tell us!
