Origin & references

This plant is believed to be a natural variation found in the wild, although not all experts agree it's a completely separate type. It was first discovered in the mountains of Mexico in 1961, and while samples were collected for study at the time, it's unclear if any of those original findings led to plants being grown in cultivation.
